What does musical instrument insurance cover ?

Brookfield provides you with All-Risks insurance, including theft, loss, or accidental damage. The policy also covers in full damage that you may cause yourself, for example if you forget your instrument on a train or accidently step on it.

How will my compensation be calculated if I damage my instrument ?

We deal with damaged instruments on almost a daily basis and understand what it means to be a musician. In crowded public transport, during loading on a tour bus or in-between rehearsal sessions, instruments can get damaged or lost.

One of our clients accidently drove over his French horn when parking his car! None of this is unusual to us and our claims managers understand what it means to you of seeing your instrument lost or damaged.

Lost instruments

Forgotten your instrument on the train and it was gone by the time you went back to get it? Don’t worry, you’re covered by your Brookfield policy. We will pay the full value agreed on your policy.
For example, if your violin is insured for €25.000, that’s what we will pay. No discussion – the value has been agreed upfront between you and us, so no surprises after a claim occurs.

Costs to rent a replacement instrument

If you need an instrument while yours is being repaired, your Brookfield musical instrument policy will pay to rent you a temporary replacement instrument of similar quality.

Travel expenses

We understand that findings the right craftsman to repair your instrument can sometimes be difficult. That’s why our policy will also pay for your travel and accommodation expenses if you need to travel with your instrument to get it repaired.

Indemnity in case your instrument loses value

When your instrument gets damaged – be it just scratches or something more serious like a crack or dent, you will want to get it repaired. But even the best restorers are not always able to erase all damage, and your instrument could lose value as a result. If you bought an expensive instrument, this could be a big financial loss for you the day you come to sell it.
That’s why in addition to paying for the repairs, Brookfield’s instrument insurance will also indemnify you for this loss in value. You can then, if you wish, sell your repaired instrument and together with the indemnity for loss in value purchase a replacement item.
